The twenty first ISCLR Symposium will be held from August 21st to August 26th 2022 at the Sheraton Porto Hotel in Porto, Portugal.

President-Elect, Professor Nathan Efron, is working with the program moderators and keynote speakers to put together the program for the meeting. The format will be familiar to previous symposia:
- Monday and Tuesday: Scientific meeting all day;
- Wednesday: Schedule clear for informal and special interest meetings as well as team building and networking opportunities;
- Thursday: Scientific meeting all day and Gala Dinner;
- Friday: Scientific meeting in the morning, concluding at around noon.
Scientific symposium schedule
There will be four tracks for the Scientific Symposium, each comprising of three sessions:
Track 1: Myopia and its control with contact lenses – Sessions include: (A) Causes of myopia and biomarkers of myopia progression; (B) Vision with myopia control contact lenses; (C) Contact lenses vs other modalities.
Track 2: Ocular response to contact lenses – Sessions include: (A) Immunology & microbiology; (B) Keratitis & infiltrates; (C) Tears and Meibomian glands in contact lens wear.
Track 3: Contact lens materials and solutions – Sessions include: (A) Mechanobiology; (B) Novel lens and solution formulations; (C) Manufacturing better lenses.
Track 4: Advancing the contact lens field – Sessions include: (A) Presbyopia, optics & vision; (B) Highly novel approaches to eye care and lens designs; (C) Contact lens discomfort.
The meeting starts on Sunday August 21st 2022 and finishes on Friday August 26th 2022 at 12:00pm. Depending on your role in the ISCLR, please arrange to arrive in time to attend the following events on the Sunday:
Executive meeting: 11.00 am (approximately 2 hours)
Student meeting: 2.00 pm – 3.00 pm
Council meeting: 3.30 pm – 4.30 pm
Moderator meeting: 4.30 pm – 5.00 pm
Welcome Reception (everyone): 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm
Call for Abstracts
Member Abstracts: The call for abstracts was closed on Friday April 1st, 2022.
Student Grants: Student Grant applications and abstract submissions closed on Friday March 4th, 2022.

Hotel accommodation should only be made following registration and using the link provided in the email which will be sent to you confirming your registration.
A block of rooms for symposium attendees at the Sheraton Porto Hotel has been secured and must be booked using the link that will be provided in the email which will be sent to you confirming your registration. This is the preferred accommodation as we have negotiated discounted room rates based on our projected occupancy levels during the meeting.
The ISCLR room rate for a Deluxe Room including breakfast daily is €130 /night (single) and €150 /night (double). Please note, rates are in Euros.
Guest rooms can be booked for 3 days prior to and 3 days after our symposium for the same rate, subject to availability. All non-occupied rooms from the block will be released after 22nd June 2022 and reservations will only be available on request, subject to the Hotel’s availability. We anticipate that attendance will be high, so please ensure that you make your reservation as soon as possible to secure your guest room at the hotel. Now is not too early!
